Do you remember this design from 2018 also? It is Harvest Moon sweater. I think soon I will have to take this one out from the treasure box to wear since the weather is getting somewhat colder and colder each day.
I hope you will enjoy this free pattern on my blog and if you want to keep this project to do it later, feel free to pin it on your board on Pinterest.
You can also purchase an ad-free printable version of this pattern on Ravelry or Etsy.

Rep R.2-11 for pattern
You see the pattern from R.1 – R.5 has a kind of box set. I have made in a total of 7 box set(see the arrows). The last row, I stopped at R.10, do not cut the yarn —>
Suggestion boxes set
S/M 7 – 8 boxes set, (10 boxes, 10 – 11 boxes)
Half double crochet rows
Please use Your intuition to see how to adapt into Your last row of the box set as this hdc rows simply hdc along the previous row. There will be a slightly different for size L/XL although, the image below will guide You.
Right after the last row of rep.
R.1 – ch2, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each of next 12 dc st from previous row *(2hdc in next ch-2 space, hdc in next sc, 2hdc in next ch-2 space, hdc in next dc) twice, hdc in each of the next 13dc, rep from* across, ending with last hdc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn
R.2 – ch2, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each of hdc from previous row across, ending with last hdc in 3rd ch of turning ch, ch1, cut the yarn
Rep the same steps to create another panel.
Connect: making a neck area & armholes
I used a yarn needle to connect both panels from the hdc row to connect. I sewn in about 4.3” inches (see where my fingers are holding the garment, I stop there). Feel free to modify to fit You.
Note: If You wish the shoulder to be more close, sew more inches at this part.
Rep the same on the other side and You have created the neck area.
Armhole
Measure down from the shoulder part about 7” inches, pin it with a stitch marker to create an armhole. Sew from the bottom up where the stitch marker (see arrow).
Rep the same on the other side.
Suggestion armhole measurement
S/M 7” – 8”, (9”, 9” – 10”)
You should have something like this by now 🙂
Sleeves:
Create the sleeve from the inside.
Round 1 – sl kn right next to at the underarm, ch2, hdc across, sl st at the beginning ch2,
Tips:
- Where there is a ch-space add 2hdc in it.
- Add hdc in between rows.
- Make it even both back and front.
- Make sure You don’t add too much or too less of hdc
Suggestion total of hdc sts
S/M 40 – 42 hdc, (54, 55)
Round 2 – ch2, hdc in each of hdc from previous round, sl st at the beginning ch2,
Round 3 – ch3, dc in each of hdc from previous round, sl st at the beginning ch3,
Stop here, turn Your work to the top of the shoulder part and find the middle of the shoulder (see arrows), Add 2 stitch markers distance of 13dc = yellow stitch is 1st dc —> blue stitch marker is 13th dc (see image below)
Round 4 – ch3, dc in each st until You get to the first stitch marker, (in my case is the blue one)
Pattern from stitch marker to stitch marker – Now call as
“Middle Pattern”
1dc, (ch3, skip next 2ch, sc in next ch, ch3, skip next 2ch, dc in next ch) twice
Continue with dc in each st until the end of the round, sl st at the beginning ch,
Round 5 – ch1, sc in each st until Middle Pattern part, (skip next loop, 3dc in next loop, ch3, working over last 3dc made, work 3dc in last skipped loop, sc in next dc) twice, sc in each st across until the end of the round, NO SL ST as we will be working in the spiral movement to avoid the obvious seam under the arm.
Tips:
- Add stitch marker at the first st of the round so You know where is the end of the round. Which is the one before the stitch marker.
- You can either move the stitch marker up every round to see where is the beginning and end or keep an eye on the st as one round is sc round and the next is dc round and will keep changing every round like so (You will see from the pattern below).
Round 6 – dc first st of this round = where is the stitch marker, dc in each st until Middle Pattern part, (ch2, sc in next ch-3 loop, ch2, skip next 3dc, dc in next sc) twice, dc in each st across until the end of the round, NO SL ST as we will be working in the spiral movement to avoid the obvious seam under the arm.
***Watch the video tutorial if you need to***
Round 7 – sc first st of this round = where is the stitch marker = where is the first dc from previous round, sc in each st until Middle Pattern part, (skip next loop, 3dc in next loop, ch3, working over last 3dc made, work 3dc in last skipped loop, sc in next dc) twice, sc in each st across until the end of the round, NO SL ST as we will be working in the spiral movement to avoid the obvious seam under the arm.
Rep Round 6-7 for pattern
I have made 36 rounds, I smooth it up by adding 1sc in each of the next 2sts, sl st, ch1, cut the yarn.
Suggestion rounds
S/M 36 – 38 rounds, (40,40 – 42)
Rep the same steps to create another sleeve.
Weave in all excess yarn and You are done 😉
